Container exports to the U.S. from 10 major countries and regions in Asia soared 23.6% from a year earlier to 1,627,215 TEUs in November, setting a new record for the month in question, U.S. research company Descartes Datamyne unveiled recently. From the beginning of the year, a total of 15,483,677 TEUs were traded on the route in January-November, up 2.5%.
In November, shipments from nine of the 10 increased year on year, excluding those from Thailand. Those from China jumped 32.5% to 1,010,381 TEUs, accomplishing a year-on-year improvement for six months in a row and enjoying the leading share of the pie. China was followed by South Korea, which exported 173,417 TEUs, up 22%. Ranked third were containers from Vietnam, which hiked 8.9% to 111,444 TEUs. Coming in fourth place, those from Taiwan climbed 3.4% to 76,816 TEUs. At the bottom of the top five were those from Singapore, which swelled 9.9% to 47,223 TEUs. Finishing in eights, exports from Japan enjoyed a double-digit rise of 14.4% to amount to 40,452 TEUs.
