China processed a total of 24.53 million TEUs of containers in September, up 7.6% year on year, according to statistics compiled by the nation’s Ministry of Transport (MOT). Those to and from coastal ports swelled 6.5% to 21.59 million TEUs, while inland river ports enjoyed a double-digit improvement of 13.1% in container lifting, handling 2.92 million TEUs.

From the beginning of the year, 192.6 million TEUs were moved to and from China, down 1.3%. Coastal ports were responsible for 171.17 million TEUs, down 1.1%, and inland river ports, 21.42 million TEUs, down 3.5%.
