The volume of containerized shipments handled at the Port of Kobe in 2019 fell 2.7% from the previous year to 2,864,145 TEUs (preliminary figures). Oceangoing shipments amounted to 2,185,294 TEUs, down 1.5%. Exports accounted for 1,178,487 TEUs, down 2%, while the remaining 1,006,807 TEUs were imported, down 1%.
In December 2019, a total of 235,198 TEUs were moved to and from Kobe, down 6.9% year on year. International freight totaled 182,472 TEUs, down 5.9%, of which 101,505 TEUs were exported, down 8.5%, and 80,967 TEUs were imported, down 2.4%.
