The port of Hong Kong processed 1.518 million TEUs of containers in November, down 7.4%, registering a year-on-year shrinkage for 22 months in a row, according to statistics compiled by the Hong Kong Marine and Port Board (HKMPB). Containers to and from Kwai Tsing Container Terminals accounted for 1.178 million TEUs, down 11.2%, suffering a year-on-year decrease for 17 months running. Meanwhile, the remaining 340,000 TEUs were processed in midstream operations and at the River Trade Terminal, up 8.6%, enjoying a year-on-year improvement for the 34th consecutive month.

In January-November, a total of 16.809 million TEUs were traded to and from Hong Kong, down 6.2%. Containers to and from Kwai Tsing waned 8% to 13.026 million TEUs, while those handled in midstream operations and at the River Trade Terminal improved 0.6% to 3.783 million TEUs.
