The Customs and Tariff Bureau of the Ministry of Finance announced Wednesday that the AEO (authorized economic operators) mutual recognition agreement (MRA) between Japan and Australia will take effect on September 25, 2019.

Under the AEO MRA regime, AEO programs of the two countries are mutually recognized. Japanese companies certified as having lower risks will enjoy faster Customs clearance with reduced documentary and cargo inspections with respect to their exports to Australia. Likewise, Australian companies that are certified by Australian Border Force will enjoy similar facilitation for their goods exported to Japan.
