The port of Hong Kong handled 1.555 million TEUs in April, down 2.9% from the same month last year. The figure represents a decline for 15 consecutive months running, according to the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board.
Throughput at the main Kwai Tsing terminals fell 5.2% to 1.215 million TEUs while midstream and river traffic rose 6.5% to 340,000 TEUs.
