The Port of Nagoya processed a total of 196.52 million TEUs of containers in 2018 on a preliminary basis, up 0.3% year on year, just barely exceeding its 2017 throughput. As for oceangoing cargo, exports swelled 2% to 53.71 million tons thanks to increases in completed automobiles and industrial machinery. Meanwhile, growth in liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil and garments, personal belongings and footwear led to an improvement in imports of 0.9% to 75.94 million tons. Containerized shipments amounted to 2.7 million TEUs, up 4.3%. Outbound containers rose 3.7% to 1.4 million TEUs, while inbound containers hiked 4.9% to 1.3 million TEUs.
