The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index was 940.08 points in the week ended on January 12, down 1.0 points from the previous week, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE).

Spot container rates from Asia to northern Europe in the week fell 1.7% to US$979 per TEU, and from Asia to the Mediterranean, also declined 1.7% to $980 per TEU.

In the transpacific trades, spot rates took a dip after the rate hikes implemented by carriers early in the month, to $1,895 per FEU, down 2.0% for the service to the west coast and to $3,040 per FEU, down 2.5% for the service the east coast.
