India’s 11 state-run ports handled a total of 2.404 million TEUs of containers in April-June, growing 6.4% year on year, according to the Indian Ports Association (IPA).
By port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port processed 1.241 million TEUs, up 2.6%; Chennai Port, 412,000 TEUs, up 4.6%; Kolkata Port, 211,000 TEUs, up 11.6%; V.O. Chidambaranar Port, 183,000 TEUs; up 10.2% and Kochin Port, 139,000 TEUs, up 2.2%; Visakhapatnam Port, 112,000 TEUs, up 24.4%; Kandla Port, 56,000 TEUs, up 75%; and Mangalore Port, 33,000 TEUs, up 50%. Throughput at Paradip Port nearly doubled to 3,000 TEUs, while containers to and from Mormugao Port remained almost unchanged at 7,000 TEUs. Mumbai Port did not do well, just handling 7,000 TEUs, down 46.2%.
