The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued an emergency order requiring six Middle East airlines flying to the U.S. to implement additional security protocols for air cargo. The carriers involved are EgyptAir, Royal Jordanian, Qatar Airways, Saudia, Emirates and Etihad Airways. TSA has mandated the airlines to comply with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) program.

ACAS is a pilot program being implemented since October 2012 jointly by CBP and TSA with voluntary participation of airlines to screen air cargo shipments inbound to the U.S., but it will no longer be voluntary for those carriers lifting cargo from airport hubs in Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
