Trade ports in China processed a total of 20.195 million TEUs of containers in November, which increased 7.4% year on year, according to a preliminary report unveiled on Nov. 12 by the nation’s Ministry of Transport (MOT). Container movement was brisk to and from both coastal and inland river ports, which went up 7% to 17.843 million TEUs and up 10.2% to 2.352 million TEUs.

In the 11 months from January, 217.261 million TEUs were moved to and from China, which grew 8.7%. In breakdown, coastal ports were responsible for 192.639 million TEUs, going up 8%, while the remaining 24.622 million TEUs were transported to and from inland river ports, up 14.3%.

In the January-November period, container throughput hiked from a year earlier at almost all major ports. Growth was more notable at high-ranking ports, with Ningbo-Zhoushan registering an increase of 14.3%; Guangzhou, 9.1% and Shanghai, 8.2%.
