Taiwan's Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance and India's Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance signed an Authorized Economic Operator Mutual Recognition Agreement (AEO-MRA) on Wednesday.

Under the MRA scheme, both customs authorities have reached a new milestone by mutually accepting AEO status and give preferential treatment which corresponds with AEO status of both economies. Thus, AEOs of both sides may enjoy reciprocal trade facilitation benefits, such as expedited customs clearance procedures and reduced cost.

Taiwan Customs has implemented its AEO program following World Customs Organization’s SAFE Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade since the end of 2009, and there have been approximately 700 Security and Safety AEOs.
