Vietnam's General Department of Customs has piloted the cargo control system at seaports and airports. In August, the system was piloted at the Hai Phong Customs Department for seaports and is scheduled to be piloted at the Hanoi Customs Department in October 2017 for airports. After that, the system will be deployed at nationwide in all customs departments.

Previously, the procedures for customs clearance of goods at seaports were carried out independently and manually between customs offices, forwarders and traders dealing with ports, warehouses and yards, and that took much more time.

By applying the cargo control system at seaports and airports, the enterprises dealing in ports, depots and yards can quickly, accurately and promptly access information in electronic form on goods supplied by the Customs, carriers, forwarders, importers and exporters.

In addition, businesses will be proactive in planning and executing trading operations; reducing workload and costs by minimizing paperwork records with carriers as well as customs; reducing storage time that increases competitiveness.
