Japan exported 100,947 secondhand automobiles (passenger cars, cargo carriers and buses) in February, which increased 1.7% from the corresponding month of 2016, according to a report unveiled by the International Auto Trade Association (iATA).

The iATA report, which had been compiled with trade statistics from the Ministry of Finance (MOF), indicated that 13,321 units were exported to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the leading destination, which plunged 16.4%. Exports to Myanmar and Tanzania, which came in third and ninth places, respectively, also suffered double-digit declines, going down 18% to 10,085 and down 19.8% to 3,254, respectively.

In contrast, exports were favorable to the other economies of the top 13. For example, those to New Zealand, which finished in second place, went up 26.3% to 12,493 units; to Chile, fourth, up 52.1% to 8,130; to Kenya, fifth, up 80.3% to 5,683; to South Africa, sixth, up 13.1% to 4,789; to Pakistan, seventh, up 26.8% to 4,771; to Sri Lanka, eighth, up 46.5% to 3,540 and to Mongolia, 10th, up 110.5% to 3,000.

On the other hand, exports to Russia, which came of 14th place; Malaysia, 16th and Singapore, 18th all incurred double-digit contractions, going down 12.1% to 1,832 units, down 20.9% to 1,792 and down 64.1% to 1,164.
