The State Coordinator of Sea Workers union (Coordinadora Estatal de Trabajadores del Mar, CETM) in Spain has called for strikes in March after the Spanish government approved a decree on the port system reform on February 24 which allows ports in the nation to hire non-unionized dockworkers.

In protest of the government decision, 6,500 CETM dockworkers are set to walk out for nine days across the nation. The work stoppage will not occur simultaneously but take place on alternate days at each port in three weeks from March 6 through 24 which could disrupt operations at container terminals in the country.
