Starting from October 2017, the Myanmar Customs Department will implement its Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) scheme, a new system that will simplify and expedite the release of imported and exported goods and allow trade operators with a good record of customs compliance to receive a range of trade facilitation benefits, including quicker customs processing.

The process to implement the AEO system has been supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under its Regional Technical Assistance project for Strengthening Trade Facilitation in the Greater Mekong Subregion Through Partnerships With the Private Sector.
