Outbound containers from Japan to China increased 6.4% from a year earlier to 854,361 tons in September, enjoying a year-on-year improvement for two back-to-back months, according to an announcement made on Nov. 11 by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). On a yen scale, however, they were only valued at \526.3 billion, which decreased 2.5% and suffered a decline from a month earlier for seven months in a row.
As for imports from China to Japan, containers totaled 1.783,812 tons, which fell 1.3% and registering the first year-on-year contraction in two months. On a value basis, they just amounted to \1.017 trillion, which waned from a month earlier for six consecutive months.
In the first nine months (January-September), Japan exported 8,202,859 tons of containers to China, which went down 2.8%, and imported 15,925,903 tons, down 0.7%.
