In an effort to encourage business in Java through container tfreight train, PT Kereta Api Logistics (KALOG), the logistics trains service unit of Indonesia's national railway PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is set to expand the range of its container rail service to Semarang, Central Java, linking Sungai Lagoa (SAO), Semarang Pethek (SMC) and Kalimas (KLM).
The trial run was successfully conducted on September 20. In the early stages, KALOG will transport empty containers to ensure smooth operations and evaluate the return trip three times a week. Looking ahead, KALOG eyes to run freight containers loaded with the contents after making sure that the operations run smoothly.
