Philippine President Benigno Aquino III has signed the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), which will facilitate the nation's custom procedures in line with global standards and practices.
The new legislation updates the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP) in compliance with the Revised Kyoto Convention (RKC).
The CMTA also encourages the use of information and communications technology in order to harmonize trade facilitation.
