In the past few weeks, the Bangladesh port of Chittagong has been plagued by congestion, leading to considerable delays for all vessels calling at the port, according to carrier sources.

This issue has adversely impacted all carriers, with average waiting times ranging from 3-4 days for shallow draft berth and 7-8 days for deep draft berth.

Considering the present status at the port and the deep-rooted underlying factors, it is difficult to gauge when the congestion will ease off, the carrier sources added.
