Thailand and Cambodia are set to start discussions on June 5 to ease limits on trucks and buses crossing the border to help promote tourist and boost cargo volumes moving between the two countries.

Under the Greater Mekong Subregion Agreement, a total of 40 trucks and buses are registered. Once registered, they can go back and forth freely over borders only if they cross through the designated cross-border points, Aranyaprathet-Poipet in Cambodia and Khlong Yai-Koh Kon in Thailand.

The two countries reportedly mull over increasing the quota of the registered vehicles in three stages, to 150 in the first year, to 300 in the second year, and to 500 in the third year.
