Dockworkers and maritime employers on the U.S. West Coast gave last week overwhelming approval to the new five-year contract which was agreed tentatively by their representatives in February 2015. The Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) announced on Wednesday that its member companies gave approval to the new contract while members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) voted 82% in favor of approving the new 5-year agreement on Friday.

The contract is retroactive to July 1, 2014 and runs through June 30, 2019.
