The world's container volumes fell 2.84% year on year in December 2014 to 11.406 million TEUs, representing a decline for three consecutive months, according to Container Trades Statistics. In the entire year of 2014 box traffic rose slightly by 0.45% on year to 135.414 million TEUs. The average freight rate index ended at 84.66, against 87.85 in the end of last year, representing a decline of 3.19 points year on year. The indices are benchmarked in percentage terms on the 2008 quarterly average equaling 100.
