Container throughput at the port of Singapore totaled 33.86 million TEUs, up 4.0% compared to 32.57 million TEUs registered in2013. The figure stood behind that of Shanghai which handled 35.38 million TEUs in 2014, up 4.5% year on year.
Therefore, Singapore is ranked the second busiest container port in the world for the fifth consecutive year.
