October container throughput at the world's Big Three container ports yielded mixed results.

The port of Shanghai moved 3.02 million TEUs in October, an increase of 7.5% compared to 2.81 million TEUs in the corresponding month last year. In the first 10 months of the year, the world's largest port reported a total throughput of 29.475 million TEUs, up 5.4% from 27.97 million TEUs registered in the same period in 2013.

Container throughput at the port of Singapore increased 5.2% in October, to 2.971 million TEUs compared to 2.82 million TEUs in October last year. In the first ten months of the year, the port of Singapore processed 28.102 million TEUs.

Hong Kong Port handled 1.785 million TEUs in October, a year-on-year decrease of 3.5% from 1.85 million TEUs in the same month last year. The figure represents a decline for four straight months. In the first ten months, Hong Kong box volume rose slightly by 1.3% from the same period in 2013 to 18.628 million TEUs.
