Japan exported 109,543 secondhand motor vehicles in September, growing 11.2% from a year earlier, according to a report released by the International Auto Trade Association (iATA). Increasing 17.3% from a month earlier, the total enjoyed a year-on-year improvement for the 21st consecutive month. In the first nine months (January-September), used vehicle exports totaled 936,566 units, which rose 10.5% from the corresponding period of 2013.

The iATA report, which had been compiled from statistical data on trade provided by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), said the leading destination of Japan’s used vehicles was Myanmar, to which 13,193 units were exported, scoring a double-digit increase for two months in a row. Exports to the Southeast Asian nation kept the lead in the first nine months as well. Russia came in second place, to which 12,401 units were exported, falling 6.9% from September 2013. Those to the nation plunged 19.1% in the nine months in question. In contrast, exports to New Zealand soared 26.4% to 8,303 units in September, enabling the economy to finish in third.
