The revenue index for cargo moving from Asia to the U.S. West Coast and interior point intermodal (IPI) improved 2.68 points to 84.35 in August 2014, compared to 81.67 in the previous month, the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) said. The index rose by 0.52 points compared to 83.83 registered in the corresponding month last year.

On the trade from Asia to the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts, the TSA index stood at 85.49 in August, up 4.07 points from the previous month's 81.42 points, hitting a 42-month high. Year on year, it gained whopping 7.51 points compared to 77.98 in August last year.

The TSA Revenue Index tracks average revenue per-40 foot container from Asia to the U.S. West Coast and to the East and Gulf coasts, which includes contracted and on-the-spot freight rates as well as terminal handling charges (THCs) and other non-floating charges but does not include bunker surcharges. The numbers are benchmarked in percentage terms against the baseline month of June 2008.
