Korea Customs Service and the Turkish Customs Authority signed a mutual recognition agreement on the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program on Monday. This is expected to allow Korea to establish a foothold for its export promotion into the Eurasian market.

The AEO program allows Customs of both countries to grant clearance facilitation for accredited AEOs such as lower examination rates, priority inspections, and priority handling of customs clearance documents at each country’s port.

For Korea, the number of completed MRAs has increased to 9 with the addition of Turkey and two AEO MRA negotiations are on-going with India and Brazil.
