With effect from June 28, 2014, China Customs will shift its 24-hour Advance Manifest regime to full-fledged operation for all vessels calling Chinese ports, excluding Hong Kong and Macau, according to shipping line sources in China.
China's Advance Manifest regulation was first implemented on January 1, 2009, but its compliance has not been mandatory till now as customs at local ports were not fully equipped with the operating system.
The rule covers all containerized shipments destined for or transshipping in China. FROB (freight remaining on board), Ro/Ro and bulk cargoes are excluded from the rule.
Details of the implementing rules will be unveiled shortly by China Customs.
