China ports container movement posted a 4.9 percent year-on-year increase in throughput nationwide to 12.77 million TEUs in February, according to the Ministry of Transport. Seaports handled 11.41 million TEUs, up 6.2 percent year on year while river ports processed 1.36 million TEUs, down 5.2 percent. In the first two months, Chinese ports' throughput of containers increased 5.9 percent from the same period in 2013 to 29.39 million TEUs. Sea ports handled 26.48 million TEUs, up 6.7 percent from a year earlier while river ports lifted2.90 million TEUs, down 3.6 percent.
