In 2013, container volume handled by the port of Colombo set a new record of 4.31 million TEUs, an increase of 2.8% compared to 4.19 million TEUs for 2012. The transshipment traffic stood at 3.21 million TEUs, an increase of 4.7% compared to 3.06 million TEUs in the previous year.
