Container volumes from Asia to Europe remained unchanged in April. Latest data from U.K.-based Container Trades Statistics (CTS) shows that containerized exports from Asia to Europe amounted to 1.16 million TEUs in the month, up slightly by 0.09% from the same month in 2012.

On the eastbound leg from Europe to Asia, box traffic surged 12.6% on year to 575,300 TEUs, marking an increase of two straight months following a 4.7% rise in March, CTS said.

The freight index compiled by CTS fell by three points to 75 in April from 78 in March, while eastbound index rose one point to 93 in April from 92 in March.
