Chinese ports handled 14,998,500 TEUs of containerized shipments in June 2012, increasing 9% year on year, according to the country’s Ministry of Transport.

Throughput was favorable at both coastal and inland river ports, which processed 13,385,900 TEUs, going up 8.9%, and 1,612,600 TEUs, up 9.9%, respectively.

In the first six months, the total reached an all-time high of 84,590,500 TEUs, growing 8.8% from a year earlier.

Coastal and inland river ports both registered year-on-year increases, handling 75,649,600 TEUs, up 8,7%, and 8,941,000 TEUs up 9.5%, respectively.
