Argentina's Advanced Sworn Statement on Imports (DJAI), which was introduced on February 1, 2012, is disrupting importers who have been required to file a document with the agency electronically through the Web site.

Not a few importers have been ill-prepared for electronic filing via DJAI, due mainly to short notice of the implementation by the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP). One out of three import declarations is reportedly rejected.

Under the new regime, the document must include such data as the importer's tax payer number known as the Clave Unica de Identification Tributaria (CUIT); FOB value; HS Code; the number of packages and weight; conditions of the goods; the country of import; and the county of origin.
