Container shipping lines in the Westbound Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (WTSA) are proposing a new series of general rate increases (GRIs) on November 1, 2011 and January 1, 2012, that will affect major dry and refrigerated cargoes to all Asia destinations as follows:
Dry Cargo
- Agricultural Products (grain, soybeans, cotton products, leguminous vegetables, meal, flour, corn products, starches, animal feed, seeds, food additives): $200/FEU, Nov 1, 2011
- Chemicals: $200/FEU, Nov 1, 2011
- Clay: $200/FEU, Nov 1, 2011
- Hay: $100/FEU, Nov 1, 2011
- Hides: $200/container, Nov 1, 2011
- Lumber (rough timber, ties, poles, piling, laminated beams, siding, plywood, core stock/veneers, particle/fiber boards: $200/FEU, Nov 1, 2011
- Metal Scrap: $100/FEU via PSW ports; $200/FEU for all other origins, Nov 1, 2011
- Onions: New minimum rates for all destinations, based on 40' 'door-off' containers; rates subject to all charges (except PRC, where DTHC is included). All rates expire Mar. 31, 2012
- Wastepaper: $50/FEU rate increase from all origins to all destinations, Nov 1, 2011
- Woodpulp, Kraft Liner Board (KLB) (milk carton stock/liquid packaging material; cellulose fibers; paper stocks; newsprint; paper in rolls; printing paper in rolls or pallets; paperboard): $200/FEU, Nov 1, 2011
- Other Dry Cargo (NOS), Freight All Kinds (FAK): $100/FEU ex LA/LB; $200/FEU for all other cargo, Nov 1, 2011
Refrigerated Cargo
- Beef/Pork, Frozen and Chilled: $150/FEU from the W. Coast; $200/FEU rate increase for all other origins, Nov 1, 2011
- Cherries: New minimum contract rates per FEU to N. Asia, S. Asia and PRC; subject to DTHC (except for PRC rates). Rates expire Jan. 31, 2012
- Citrus, Chilled: New minimum rates via U.S. East Coast to PRC, the rest of N. Asia, and S. Asia; rates subject to inland fuel charges, DTHC (except PRC), doc fees. Rates expire June30, 2012
- French Fries, Frozen: $300/FEU, $240/TEU, Nov 1, 2011
- Poultry, Frozen: $150/FEU from the W. Coast; $200/FEU for all other origins, Nov 1, 2011
