French dockworkers have called off their strikes planned across the weekend after CGT (Confederation Generale du Travail or General Confederation of Labor ) agreed to resume talks with port authorities. The four-day strikes had continued for four weeks in a row since January.

The negotiation started on Monday and is scheduled to end on Wednesday. The focus of the negotiations will be on the early retirement provision revised by the government.

The CGT union warned it would re-start the strikes if the talks failed to progress.
