Container volumes handled in Chinese ports surpassed the 100 million-TEU mark in the first nine months of the year.

In September, Chinese ports handled a total of 12.752 million TEUs, representing a 15% increase over the same month in 2009.

For the first nine month, box throughput amounted to 107.524 million TEUs, an increase of 20.7% from the corresponding period last year. Of the total, the coastal ports handled 96.895 million TEUs, up 20.7% year on year while inland river ports processed 10.629 milliono TEUs, up 20.5% on year.
