Work is ongoing to replace gantry cranes at two berths at the Thai port of Bangkok’s Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) Terminal.

It is expected the project will be completed around July 15, according to information provided by shipping companies.

When it is finished, new gantry cranes at the 20D and 20E berths will be tested for a period of about 10 days before going into full operation on July 25.

As such, shipping lines that have suspended calls since the replacement began will resume them with ships scheduled to arrive at the berths in mid-July.

However, in case the new gantry cranes do not work well, causing ship congestions, carriers said they would skip 20D and 20E again as an emergency measure.
