The Yangon Region Government is set to lift container truck traffic rules which prohibit containerized cargo vehicles to pass through the city during the daytime.

The restriction has been enforced since November 2016 and container truck is only permitted to use the city roads from 21:00 to 6:00 a.m.

After a testing week, container trucks carrying selected goods will be allowed to run through Yangon City during the daytime. Under the plan, a police car will lead the convoy of container trucks from 11 a.m. for those carrying export cargo and from 1 p.m. for those carrying import cargo.
