The Port of Shanghai handled 3.44 million TUs of containers in July, which went up 5.2% from a year earlier. In the first seven months (January-July), it processed 21.16 million TEUs in total, up 4.2%.

Singapore enjoyed a double-digit improvement, which grew 11.9% to 2.9 million TEUs last month. From January to July, meanwhile, a total of 1,900 TEUs were moved to and from the city-state, up 7.2%.

Hong Kong registered a year-on-year increase for the sixth consecutive month in July, handling 1.746 million TEUs, up 7.2%. Kwai Tsing Container Terminals was responsible for 1.406 million TEUs, up 9.1%, while combined container lifting at the other facilities was also brisk, growing 0.2% to 340,000 TEUs. In the first seven months, the port exported and imported a total of 11.91 million TEUs, up 10%. In breakdown, 9.448 million TEUs were carried to and from Kwai Tsing Container Terminals, up 10.7%, while the balance of 2.462 million TEUs were transported to and from the other facilities, up 7.6%.
