The northern Chinese port of Tianjin has resumed to handle part of dangerous goods two years after massive explosions in a warehouse storing dangerous and chemical goods in the port area in August 12, 2015 which resulted in 173 dead and missing people.

Since the explosion, the port had suspended cargo handling of operations of dangerous goods. In a recent meeting, the Tianjin government gave green light to the state-run Tianjin Port Sinochem Dangerous Goods Logistics to unstuff containerized shipments classified in Class 8 (corrosive substances) and Class 9 (miscellaneous dangerous substances & articles) of the UN's International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code known as the IMDG Code.
