China handled a total of 18.811 million TEUs of containers at its trade ports in July, which increased 4.9% from a year earlier, according to the nation’s Ministry of Transport (MOT). Growth in throughput was steady at both coastal and inland river ports, which processed 16.864 million TEUs, going up 5%, and 1.947 million TEUs, up 4%, respectively.

In the first seven month (January-July), overall container lifting was 124.209 million TEUs, which improved 2.8% year on year. In breakdown, coastal ports were responsible for 111.155 million TEUs, up 2.6%, while the remaining 13.054 million TEUs were carried to and from inland river ports.
