The Port of Singapore handed 53.9 million tons of cargo in May, which hiked 2.3% from a year earlier. Container lifting was favorable in particular, which surged 10.6% to 31.4 million tons. In terms of number, it amounted to three million TEUs, which soared 12.2%.
In the first five months (January-May), 259.3 million tons of freight was moved to and from the city-state, which increased 5.4% year on year. Containerized shipments swelled 4.3% to 141.6 million tons. They were robust in terms of TEU as well, growing 5.9% to 13.3 million TEUs.
