Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare has announced that they are tightening their regulation on food imports from Japan.

Effective mid-May, Taiwanese health authorities will require exporters in Japan to attach certification of the origins of the products by prefecture. They are also likely demand radiation checks on some specific items, including baby food.

Taiwan has banned the import of foods from 5 Japanese prefectures - Fukushima, Ibaraki, Chiba, Tochigi and Gunma - after the he nuclear plant accident at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant in March 2011. Now, the Taiwanese authorities are further tightening health regulations with the new measure.

The additional measures will be officially unveiled in a few days and put into effect 30 days after the announcement.
