In conjunction with the ratification of the Hague Visby Rules by the government of Japan, the International Carriage of Commodities by Sea Act (COGSA) was partially amended on June 1, 1993.
JIFFA subsequently created the JIFFA Multimodal Bill of Lading (JIFFA MT B/L) that stipulated the compliant JIFFA Terms and Conditions of Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (1993) and has since then been striving to popularize such document. Twenty years have passed since the Terms and Conditions were established. JIFFA revised the provisions/articles in order to better fit the current state of affairs in the industry. The JIFFA Terms and Conditions of Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (2013) came into force on January 1, 2014.
Following this, a new JIFFA MT B/L that promotes the JIFFA Terms and Conditions of Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (2013) has been enacted.
