Container lifting at the Port of Hong Kong declined 0.7% year on year to 1.623 million TEUs in September. Negative growth in throughput, however, fell below 1% for the first time since August 2014. Kwai Tsing Container Terminals handled 1.273 million TEUs, which improved 4.8%, enjoying the first year-on-year increase in 26 months. In contrast, throughput was not as brisk at Mid-Stream facilities, River Trade Terminal and others, totaling 350,000 TEUs, which plunged 16.7%. In the first eight months (January-August), Hong Kong processed 14.102 million TEUs, which waned 8.5% from a year earlier.
