Container throughput at Hong Kong Port fell 2.9% to 1.656 million TEUs in August, staying in negative territory for the 26th consecutive month.
The Kwai Tsing container terminals handled 1.296 million TEUs, down 1.5% on year to 1.296 million TEUs while the rest comprising mid-stream and river trade boxes stood at 360,000 TEUs, down 7.7% from the same period last year.
In the first eight months, box volumes fell 9.4% year on year to 12.49 million TEUs.
