Nippon Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System, Inc. (NACCS) announced Monday that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) had tender a bid and won it for two technical cooperation programs (the management of system users and the establishment of a help desk) for the Project for National Single Window and Customs Modernization by Introducing Automated Cargo Clearance System in Myanmar. The two parties concluded an agreement for executing the two programs.

It is scheduled that in Myanmar, a customs-clearance system will go in to operation in November 2016. In preparation for this, NACCS will send two experts to provide technical support to local staff members of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) of the Southeast Asian economy. The NACCS experts will help the ministry’s Customs Department, the main party responsible for advancing the Project for National Single Window and Customs Modernization by Introducing Automated Cargo Clearance System, in managing system users and establishing a help desk.

The NACCS’ assistance will be completed in December 2016. The system operator will make the best of the knowledge it has acquired from operating and managing the NACCS in Japan and the experience it gained when giving technical support to Vietnam in introducing a similar customs-clearance system.
