Thai Customs Set to Ease Customs Formalities for Flood-Afflicted Firms

The Customs Department of Thailand has decided to simplify some of the nation’s customs clearance formalities, according to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

The simplification program is expected to help business operators that were hit hard by the 2011 devastating floods import new raw materials and equipment. Specifically, no inspections will be conducted on the abovementioned shipments. If business operators register themselves with the program by the end of March, raw materials and equipment they import will be processed in the simplified system until the end of June.
