Transpacific PSS Boosts Container Spot Rates
Spot rates for transpacific container shipping rose 8.2 percent last week owing to the implementation of the peak season surcharge (PSS) which took effect on August 1, according to Drewry Shipping Consultants' Container Rate Benchmark.
During the week, the rates of 40-foot container from Hong Kong to Los Angeles increased to $2,838 per FEU from $2,624 which remained for the past four weeks.
